Gamasutra’s Top Games of the Decade
Gamasutra.com has named their top 12 games of the past decade. An interesting read. If you haven’t played these games, I suggest you do (although, there are some I haven’t played either).
Overall, looks like a good list to me. I am a bit sad to see Halo make the top list, though. And the fanboy in me wishes KotOR was on there. Oh well, there have been so many good games this decade that you can’t possibly fit them all on a top 10 list.
They also posted an honorable mentions list. Glad to see Katamari, BioShock and Puzzle Quest all make the cut. And thrilled to see Vagrant Story on there since it’s so often overlooked.
Most of my favorite games of the decade were on the honorable mentions list rather than on the top 10. But this whole thing reminded me how far behind I am with my gaming nowadays… (which happens when all of your consoles start breaking)
UPDATE: Did want to specify, these lists were compiled by gamasutra but the votes came from readers.
BioShock & The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Bundle
2K Games has just announced a BioShock & The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Bundle. Starting July 7th, you can own both games on the Xbox 360 for $39.99, or for $29.99 on Windows PCs.
That’s a great deal for two Game of the Year winning games. Two of my personal favorite games, a matter of fact. Although really… who doesn’t own these already? On the off chance you haven’t played them yet, here’s your chance.
BioShock Add-On
2K Games has announced a free BioShock Add-On expanding on their critically acclaimed title for PC and Xbox 360.
This Add-On features new plasmids, new tonics, new achievements and an improved interface. The EVE Saver Tonic has been added to the game, allowing players to spend less EVE on their Plasmids. Vending Expert reduces the cost of Vending Machine items and Machine Buster increases damage against turrets and cameras.
The new Plasmid, Sonic Boom, allows players to launch enemies and objects with a burst of force. A true wide-screen display opition is also available.
As mentioned before, this upgrade is free, so log on to Xbox Live and get it NOW!

I’m a Wussy
Want to hear a sad confession? I still haven’t beat BioShock.
The game is absolutely amazing, but the eerie atmosphere of the game and the edge-of-your seat suspense makes it a game that I find hard to play for long durations. Yes, I’m a pansy!!!
Of course, a few other games have distracted me since I’ve started BioShock. The main distraction being Two Worlds, which is flawed but so ridiculously huge that it managed to kill a lot of my time. There’s also the fact that I’m all about exploration, so I’ve wasted a lot of time in BioShock exploring to make sure I’ve seen every nook and cranny in Rapture. If it weren’t for that, I probably would have completed the game weeks ago.
Ah well. I’m almost done… wrapping it up now.
10/01/07 Links
Happy first of October. As the new month starts I’ve got a few links from the end of last month to share!
RPGDot/Jolt Reviews Blue Dragon – They rate the game a positive 8.7, which is a bit higher than the norm.
GameSpy Previews Hellgate: London – They like what they see, but also encountered a lot of technical glitches.
1UP Reviews Two Worlds – They rate the PC version a 6.0.
AllRPG Reviews GrimGrimoire – A solid 7.5 is the resulting score from NIS America’s PS2 title.
AllRPG Reviews BioShock – A bit different that AllRPG reviews something on the PC or Xbox 360. Either way, they award it an impressive 9.0.
9/24/07 Links
A few quick links you may want to check out:
Jolt Hates Two Worlds – Jolt has rated Two Worlds for the Xbox 360 an abysmal 2.2. This might be the lowest score I’ve seen yet.
AllRPG Reviews Jeanne d’Arc – Level 5’s latest RPG for the PSP gets a high scoring 9.0.
BioShock Reviewed by GameBanshee – A solid 8.2 is their score, which is actually pretty low for BioShock.
RPGWatch Reviews Nethergate: Resurrection – Spiderweb software’s latest title pulls in a 3.0/5.0.
Trapped in Gaming Fantasy Land!
So I’ve been neglecting this Blog the last few days. Fortunately there hasn’t been a lot of noteworthy RPG news as of late, so it’s not like you’ve missed anything.
I’ve been distracted by two recent gaming releases, Two Worlds and BioShock. Just-RPG will have full coverage of these two games shortly, but for now, here’s a few thoughts of mine.
BioShock… well, it’s every bit as great as what all the reviews are saying. The graphics are gorgeous, the gameplay is deep and intelligent, and you’ll find yourself immersed in the game’s eerie atmosphere. This is a must play for pretty much everybody!
Two Worlds is both highly flawed and highly enjoyable. There are a lot of frame rate problems and the interface is clunky on the Xbox 360. On the other hand, the character building is deep and allows for plenty of customization through stats, skills, equipment and magic power ups. The world is also massive and filled with quests to embark on and areas to explore. So far it’s a lot of fun, but probably best suited for hardcore RPG fans.
That’s all for now. Like I said, Just-RPG will have full reviews of both games in the coming weeks. Considering how lengthy it is, the Two Worlds review may take some time. With any luck, I’ll be able to pull myself away from these games long enough to do some updates over the next few days.
