I haven’t posted any links in a loooong time and a few key games have come out, like Hellgate: London and The Witcher. I figure it’s about time I post something… If you haven’t seen any coverage of these games yet, here ya go!

Hellgate: London Review on RPGDot – A solid score of 8.1 for the highly anticipated RPG from Flagship.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions on RPGDot – Not suprisingly, a 9.0 for the PSPport of the classic SRPG.

GameSpot Reviews Hellgate – A second review of the game scores is a bit lower than the first.

The Witcher on RPGDot – A pretty high score for Atari’s latest RPG from CD Projekt. I still haven’t played this one, but it looks really interesting.

GameBanshee Reviews NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer – An 8.3 score is the result.

1Up Reviews The Witcher – They’re not horibly impressed, but it still pulls a solid score.

IGN Likes The Witcher – Enough to rate it an 8.5 at least.

IGN Reviews Hellgate: London – They are NOT impressed with this one and only award it a 6.8. This might be worth a read so you can get the “other” side of the story.

AllRPG Reviews Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions – Um, they liked it… but they’re score is confusing. It’s explained in the review, though.

GameSpy Doesn’t Like Hellgate Either – They complain of bugs, slowdown and game crashes.

The Witcher Now In Stores!

leave a comment »

This announcement is a bit late, but it’s always better late than never! Anyway, Atari has recently announced that The Witcher has shipped out to stores. Gamers can finally pick up the RPG from CD Projekt in stores across North America.

The Witcher promises a thrilling story where gamers are faced with real-life decisions that have no clear ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answer. These decisions will impact the game world and have many consequences on the gameplay. It takes place in a unique fantasy universe based on the works of author Andrzej Sapkowski and features deep tactical combat. The Witcher is a Games for Windows exclusive title, rated M for Mature and available at the suggested retail price of $49.95.

Just for the heck of it, I’ve rounded up a few interesting Witcher reviews for ya’ll:

Want to read reviews and previews of some of the hottest RPGs around, but don’t have the time to seek them out? Well you’re in luck because I did the searching for you… read and enjoy!

AllRPG Reviews Luminous Arc – Atlus’ latest DS title pulls in a solid 7.5 from their reviewer who calls this title a “must”.

.hack//G.U. Vol. 3: Redemption Review at AllRPG – AllRPG reviews the final G.U. game with positive results! I’ve never played any of the .hack games other than the first, which didn’t impress me at all… maybe I should give them a second try.

IGN Reviews Folklore – The recent PS3 title scores pretty high marks with IGN.

Jolt/RPGdot Reviews Depths of Peril – A review of the recently released indie RPG Depths of Peril has been published for the Jolt sites, who scored it a 7.7.

The Witcher Previewed at RPGWatch – I know, every time I post an article about this game I rant about how I can’t wait for it. So, ‘ll say it again, this game looks amazing! Make sure to read RPGWatch’s in-depth preview.

Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire on GameSpot – They weren’t impressed with one of the Wii’s latest offerings, complaining about issues such as mediocre visuals and poor controls. Too bad, I actually had some high hopes for this one! There’s just not much to play on the Wii… unless you like puzzle/casual/party games.

GameSpy Reviews Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire – They liked it more than GameSpot, but not much more.

GameSpy Loves The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass – A shinning review of the latest Zelda title awards the game with a score reminiscent of virtually every other game in the series. Chances are, if you’re a Zelda fan you already bought the game anyway and will love it regardless of what everyone else says.

1Up’s Review of Phantom Hourglass – They’re less impressed by the game than GameSpy and feel the series is beginning to lack innovation. Still, they liked it and rate it 80%. This one is definitely worth a read for the skeptical gamer.

IGN Reviews Phaton Hourglass – Our third and final review of the newest Zelda title for the DS, and once again they’re impressed. An ‘Outstanding’ 9.0 is their verdict.

Rockin’ to The Witcher

The Witcher is highly anticipated among RPG fans here in the U.S., but apparantly the game is really big in Poland.

The Polish special edition of The Witcher is going to include a CD full of music tracks inspired by the game. All of these songs are professionally recorded by popular Polish bands, and all are about the dark fantasy world of The Witcher!

Vader, the international Death Metal star, will be featuring the song “The Sword of The Witcher” on this special edition music CD as well as on his own upcoming CD.

Check out Vader’s video here. It’s actually pretty cool and has plenty of scenes straight from The Witcher!

If that’s not enough, check out The Witcher’s official YouTube page here for more trailers and music videos.

I managed to dig up all sorts of good reading material over the weekend. As the holiday season approaches we’re starting to see a LOT of different gaming releases. Fortunately, it looks like a lot of the big ones are pulling out good reviews.

Jolt/RPGDot Review Loki – Their verdict is that it’s an average action RPG.

IGN Rates Eternal Sonata – An early review for this highly anticipated Xbox 360 RPG. They award it a solid 8.3 out of 10! Looks like this is beating out Blue Dragon for best Japanese RPG on the 360.

Heavenly Sword Reviewed by GameSpot – They praise the game for its looks and action, but criticize it for the short length. Overall, though, they give it an 8.0 out of 10, so not shabby at all!

Soul Nomad & The World Eaters on AllRPG – AllRPG rates this PS2 RPG a solid 7.0.

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology Reviewed by AllRPG – A second review from AllRPG, this one covering a PSP RPG. A similiar score of 7.5 is awarded.

CVG Interviews Molyneux about Fable 2 – The head of Lionhead talks about the upcoming Fable 2 and life at Lionhead.

CVG Reviews Two Worlds – The review covers the PC version of the game, which is supposed to be somewhat superior to the Xbox 360 version. My experience is with the 360 version, which is highly flawed but very addictive! CVG rates it 7.3.

IGN Takes a Look at The Witcher’s Races – A look at the various races gamers can expect to encounter in The Witcher.
